OUR MISSION
Our mission is to elevate Edinburgh’s grassroots music scene by creating sustainable opportunities for emerging artists, independent venues, and audiences to connect through live music.
We exist to promote and develop local talent, support the wider creative ecosystem, and contribute to a vibrant, accessible, and inclusive cultural landscape. Through responsible event promotion, collaboration, and meaningful investment into the music community, we aim to help ensure Edinburgh remains a place where new artists can grow, audiences can discover new experiences, and independent music can thrive.
Our success is measured not only by financial sustainability, but by the positive cultural impact we create for artists, venues, audiences, and the wider Edinburgh music community.
1 Fairer Opportunities for Artists
Artists are the foundation of everything we do. We believe musicians should be valued for their time, creativity, and contribution to the live music ecosystem.
For paid performances, we operate a standard minimum artist guarantee of £100, providing a clear baseline commitment to fair compensation. Where opportunities are unpaid, such as development showcases or community-focused events, we are transparent with artists from the outset and ensure they can make informed decisions about participating.
We also create progression pathways by prioritising artists who engage with our development opportunities for future paid performances, helping build sustainable routes for emerging musicians.
We aim to do more than provide a stage, we build long-term relationships that help musicians develop their audiences, confidence, and careers, providing them with a quality and professional service that supports their creativity.
Through performance opportunities, collaboration, and continued support, we help emerging artists take meaningful steps forward while contributing to the future strength of Scotland’s music scene.
Every event we deliver is guided by our Safer Spaces Policy. We are committed to creating live music environments where artists, audiences, and teams feel respected, welcomed, and able to participate with confidence.
By promoting inclusive and respectful spaces, we help ensure that live music remains accessible and enjoyable for everyone involved.
4 Strengthening Edinburgh’s Music Ecosystem
By connecting artists, venues, audiences, and creative professionals, we help sustain the grassroots infrastructure that allows live music to thrive.
Our goal is to contribute to a healthier cultural economy where independent venues remain active, emerging artists have opportunities to grow, and new voices have the chance to be discovered.

BUILDING OUR IMPACT
Go Button is at the beginning of its journey, but our purpose has been clear from the start: to create a fairer and more sustainable environment for grassroots music in Edinburgh.
Rather than measuring success only through the quantity of events delivered so far, we focus on the quality of opportunities we create for artists, audiences, and venues.
As we grow, we will continue to track and share the impact we create through artist opportunities, venue partnerships, audience engagement, and contributions to Scotland’s grassroots music ecosystem.
